A third class city in the province of Bohol, Philippines, Tagbilaran is the capital and component city of Bohol. It lies on the southwestern part of the province and it is the principal gateway to the island province of Bohol.

Tagbilaran is among the eight Philippine Dream Cities and it has a total population of 89,000. It was originally a native settlement which is involved with China and Malaysia before the Spaniards came in the country. It was on February 9, 1742 when Tagbilaran was established as a town and was separated from the town of Baclayon. It is the main business capital and center of governance of the province of Bohol and it is also the center of education and transportation in the region.
When it comes to tourist attractions, Tagbilaran definitely has a lot to offer. It serves as a home to numerous first-class hotels, resorts and restaturants. Tagbilaran has also become a haven for numerous national conventions. The town is famous for being one the five Eco-Tourism destinations as identified by the Department of Tourism and is declared as the top tourist destination in the Philippines.
