A well known water festival, Songkran is the New Year celebration of the Thai. It is done ever April 13 and 15 and it is also celebrated in Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and other parts in Indonesia.   Songkran

This festival has developed over the years from a very simply visit to a temple. This is the place and time where the early people in the country only sprinkle a little water on the Buddha and on the hands of the people who are wishing for a good fortune. Today, a water war is done in all the streets of the town.

Visitors and foreigners who would celebrate this festivity with the Thai must be ready with their clothes for they will not be exception for the celebration. Â Chiang Mai is said to be the best place to celebrate the Songkran. The celebration in this place usually comes with beauty contests, parade and marching bands.
