Welcome to Cabanatuan City, a first class city in Nueva Ecija, Philippines. It is widely known as the economic hub of the province and it has a total population of 222,859.

It is also called as the “Tricycle Capital of the Philippines” because of its 30,000 plus registered tricycle. The city is politically subdivided into 89 barangays. It was founded as Barrio of Gapan in the year 1750 and it became a municipality in the year 1780. Cabanatuan was restored as the capital of the province in the year 1917. In 1998, Cabanatuan was hailed as a Highly Urbanized City.

The Japanese were said to have built Cabanatuan Prison Camp in the World War II and there were a lot of American soldiers that were imprisoned. Some of them were forced to endure the “Bataan Death March” and it was in January 1945 when elements of the US Army had marched far behind enemy lines to rescue the prisoners which was called the Raid at Cabanatuan.
