Historically known as “Kan-Yu,†Feng Shui is regarded as means “the Law of Heaven and Earth.†It is said to be a discipline that has guidelines which are compatible with numerous techniques of agricultural planning and internal furniture arrangements.
Feng Shui has its components and these are the space, weather, astronomy and geomagnetism. Feng Shui that is being practiced today has a goal in situating the human environment on spots with good qi or good flow of energy. The direction of the flow of the qi is determined with the use of a Luopan. The polarity of Feng Shui is expressed as Yin and Yang.
The early feng shui simply relied on astronomy in finding correlations between humans and the universe. It is also inseparable from an understanding of political power in premodern China. The techniques of feng shui are traced to Neolithic China and others were then added in later times especially in the Han dynasty, Tang and the Ming.
