A well known country in Southeast Asia, East Timor is officially named as the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste. The country comprises the eastern half of the island of Timor, the nearby islands of Atauro and Jaco and Oecussi-Ambeno which is an enclave on the northwestern side of the island.
The country is part of the Malay Archipelago and is said to be the largest and the easternmost of the Lesser Sunda Islands. It has a tropical climate, generally hot and humid seasons characterized with distinct rainy and dry seasons. The country is famous for its sandalwood and it also has a big and potentially lucrative coffee industry that sells organic coffee to many Fair Trade retailers as well as on the open market.
It has about a million of inhabitants which had grown considerably due to high birth rate and return of refugees. People in Timor are made up of various distinct ethnic groups and most of them are mixed of Malayo-Polynesian and Melanasian/Papuan descent.
