The Golden Temple is situated in Amritsar city of Punjab. It is named after God Hari who is the temple of God.

Seikhs throughout the world go to the temple to pay obeisance. Saint Hazrat Mian Mirji of Lahore founded the temple in December 1588. It was Guru Arjan Sahib who supervised the construction work and was assisted by the eminent Sikh personalities like Baba Budha ji, Bhai Gurdas ji, and Bhai Sahlo ji. The making of the temple was completed in 1601.

Guru Arjan Sahib was the one who designed the architecture of the temple. It is a blend of the Muslims and the Hindus way of building a structure and is regarded as one of the best architectural specimens in the whole world. The exterior of the Golden Temple is gold-plated and it stands just in the middle of a square tank. It is three-storied and the front part of the temple is faced to the bridge and is decorated with cusped arches.
