The fried rice originated as a simple home made dish from Tao Feng—famous chef at the time in China. The chef made the dish from cold leftover rice fried with some other leftover ingredients.

Other people want to eat such dish with chili flavor so, they add chili pepper and hot sauces. Soy sauce can also be used to give a brown coloring and savory taste.
