Adilabad is one of the historical cities in India. It got its name from the erstwhile ruler of Bijapur named Ali Adil Shah.
It became a home to various cultures. Adilabad is located on the northern boundary of Andhra Pradesh which forms a border with Maharashtra. The riversseen in the city are the Godavari, Penganga and Wardha. It has atotal population of 108,233 where the males make up 51% of the population. Adilabad is made up of 52 mandals and 1,743 villages.

It is the fifth largest district in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Among the places to be seen in the city are the Basara which houses a temple focused on the goddess of learning, Saraswathi, Kuntala waterfalls, and the Kawal Wild life sanctuary which is famous for birds that migrate in the sanctuary every June and July. Nirmal, a town found in Adilabad is also a beautiful spot in the city.
