Manila is the capital city of the Philippines. It is situated on the eastern shore of Manila Bay in Luzon which happens to be the largest island of the country. It has many sites and historic landmarks to show off.

Its name is derived from the Tagalog word “nilad” which refers to the presence of the flowering mangrove plant that grew on the marshy shores of the bay. Manila is also the seat of political power in the country. Residents of Manila came from three distinct local ethnic groups known as known as the natives, Chinese, and Spanish.

Marvelous and historic places that are found in the metro are the Apolinarion Mabini Shrine, Fort Santiago, Intramuros which is a walled city built by the Spaniards, Liwasang Bonifacio, Manila Baywalk, Museo Pambata, Rizal Park or also known as the Luneta park, and many other more. Staying in Manila would never be a bore to visitors or tourists for the Filipinos are known to be hospitable and happy people.
