Known as Philippines’ third most populous city, Caloocan is among the cities and municipalities which make up Manila.

Caloocan

It is politically subdivided into 188 barangays which are not officially named but numbered simply as Barangay 1 to Barangay 188. Caloocan is divided into two areas namely: Southern Caloocan City and Northern Caloocan City. The city was the center of activities for the Katipunan which is said to be the secret militant society which has launched the Philippine Revolution.

Its name means “innermost area” and it borders many cities like Quezon City, Manila, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela and San Jose Del Monte Bulacan. Its most celebrated landmark is the monument of Philippine revolutionary Andres Bonifacio. The city’s 10th avenue area is famous for the clusters of motorcycle dealers and spare parts dealers. Caloocan City Hall is situated on A. Mabini Avenue just across the street from the well maintained San Roque Parish Cathedral.
