Welcome to Chrongju, the well known capital city of Chungcheongbuk-do, South Korea. It is said to be among the most important provincial towns since the early times. It was also the site of the Battle of Chongju during the invasion of Hideyoshi in Korea.

The beautiful Geum River flows right through the center of the city and the tributaries of Musim and Miho also flow in the northern part of the city. The mountains Wuam and Bumo can also be found in the eastern and western part of the city. The administrative districts of Cheongju are the Heungdeok-gu and Sangdang-gu.

There are a lot of beautiful sceneries which one can see in the city. There is the Sangdanfgsanseong or commonly known as the Sangdang Mountain Fortress. It lies on the wonderful slopes of the well known Mt. Uam. It is made of 3-4 meter tall wall which stretches up to 4.2 kilometers in circumference. One can also see the Cheongju National Museum which is found near the Mt. Uam and the Heungdeok Temple Site is also among the most visited places in the city.
