Vietnam is a country found in Southeast Asia which extends at about 331,688 square kilometers in area.
The country is made up of hills, densely forested mountains, flat plateaus of basalt soil, various rivers, and other beautiful bodies of water.
Vietnamese people compose the large ethnic group called Viet or Kinh. There is also the Hoa or the ethnic Chinese and Khmer Krom which are mainly lowlanders. These ethnic groups wield influence on national life through their power of political and economic affairs and their role as suppliers of the dominant culture.
Vietnam also was able to maintain and preserve their culture. Their culture is strongly influenced by neighboring China which remains strongly as Confucian country. In 1990s, the country has been exposed to Southeast Asian, European, and American culture and media.
They are also famous with their cuisine which uses little oil and many vegetables. Their main dishes are rice, soy sauce, and fish sauce. They crave for sweet, spicy, sour, umami, and mint and basil flavored dishes.
