The City of Pasig in Philippines used to be the capital of the province of Rizal just before Metro Manila was formed.
It is a primarily residential-industrial town but it is currently increasingly becoming a commercial area. The city was founded in July 1573 together with the inauguration of the mission-parish of Pasig. Pasig City had received its first bell with the Our Lady of the Visitation as the patron saint of the city. It was in July 1994 when the city was converted into a highly urbanized city.
There are numerous high-rise office buildings, residential condominiums and schools in the city. Rizal High School is among the biggest schools in the world and in terms of student population and it is found in the city. There is also the Pasig City Science High School which is a secondary school for the brightest students in the city and there is also the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig which is a local university situated in Kapasigan, Pasig City.
