One of the northern provinces of Thailand, Phrae is situated in the valley of the river Yom. Come, and have a closer look in the historic and legendary city.
The history of the province took place in the Haripunchai kingdom of the Mon and it also became part of the kingdom Lannathai in the year 1443 just when King Tilokaraj was on a journey to capture Nan. Phrae and Nan were said to be ruled by brothers in the early times.
When the brothers decided to divide the land between them, they planned to meet on the point on top of a mountain. One of them from who is from Phrae rode on a horse and the other one who came from Nan rode on buffalo. This is the reason why Phrae uses a horse in their seal and the other city used the buffalo. Phrae is divided into eight districts and are subdivided into 78 communes and 645 villages.
