Great things about Sangju

Welcome to Sangju, a city in North Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. It is said to be a key city and it gives rise to half of the name of the Gyeongsang provinces. Sangju is abundant in rice, silkworm cocoons and dried persimmons.

SangjuIt lies on the northwestern border of North Gyeongsang province which touches on north the Chungcheong province. Sangju has an inland climate and its average temperature is between 12°C and 13°C. The province had remarkably played an important role in Korean history and it first emerges after the Silla conquest of the area.

Sangju’s economy is traditionally agriculture where 40% of its residents are engaged in farming. It also has the largest number of farming households. Sangju currently serves as an important regional center of industry and commerce and it is facilitated with its strong transit connections. The city is also home to the Sangju National University which is a government-administered institution that focuses on agricultural technology.
