Widely known as the capital of Arkhangai Aimag, Mongolia, Tsetserleg lies on the northeastern slopes of the Khangai Mountains which is 250 miles southwest of Ulan Bator.

It is situated in the Bulgan sum in the south of the aimag. The city is an ancient cultural and commercial center which has once become the seat of monastery that was built by the First Khalkh Zaya Pandita, Luvsanperenlei. Today, Tsetserleg has an airport that has regular connections from and to Ulan Bator. It also has hotels, hospital and agricultural college. The city’s main industry is food processing.
Tsetserleg has a total population of about 16,618. It was in 1992 when the city was designated as Erdenebulgan sum that has an area of 536 square kilometers. Even if the town is small, the weather and simple living in the town is cozy enough for tourists to stay a day or more in the city.
