Historically known as Julfar, Ras al-Khaimah is located in the northern side of the Arabian Peninsula.
There are about 102,000 people who live in the emirate. Its two main sections are the Old Ras Al Khaimah and Nakheel. It was in 1869 when Ras al-Khaimah became independent from Sharjah. It was then on February 11, 1972 when Sheik Saqr ibn Muhammad al-Qasimi had joined the United Arab Emirates.
There are numerous government-run schools in the state and Arabic-medium schools run by private managements also present there. Schools which use English medium are also offered in some universities and also local-established schools and foreign universities are available in the emirate. Going to Ras al-Khaimah is also easy and the means of transportation is accessible. Tourists would go to such place to check some of its beautiful spots and also to view its commercial spaceport that would serves as their space tourism.
