Among the historical places and beautiful cities in India is Akola. It is a municipal corporation and is an important cultural, historical, political, religious, industrial, and agricultural city in the country.

It lies on the Tropic of Cancer and is said to have a very hot weather during summer season. Akola is bounded by the Malghat Hills and Forest region. There are also many rivers in the city. Among of these flowing rivers are the Purna River, Uma, Katepurna, Shahanur, Morna, Mann, Aas, and Vaan Rivers. During the 2001 census, Akola is said to have a population of 399,978.

The main occupation of the people who live in Akola is farming. Among the crops that they produce are cotton, soyabean, jowar or sorghum, wheat, sunflower, canola, peanut, bajra or pearl millet, harbara, toor or pigeon peas, ulad, and mung. Most of these crops are dependent on the monsoon. Oil and Dal mills are also rampant in the city.
