A first class highly urbanized city in northern Luzon, Baguio was designated as the Summer Capital of the Philippines by the Philippine Commission.
Baguio happens to be the seat of government of the Cordillera Administrative Region its name is derived from the word bagiw in Ibaloi which means “moss.†There are many agricultural and mining goods produced in Benguet- a province in Baguio City, and these are brought to Baguio City for the central distribution.
There are also numerous beautiful spots and wonderful landmarks found in the cool city. Some of these sights are the Burnham Park which offers a promenade and a man-made lagoon and it also has cycling areas, children’s park, and a covered skating rink. Baguio Cathedral which is a majestic church made on atop a hill is also found in the city. Some other places visited by tourists are the Mines View Park, Baguio Botanical Garden, and the Lourdes Grotto.
