A beautiful and cozy city situated in southwest Saudi Arabia, Khamis Mushayt serves as the provincial seat of the Asir province.

Khamis Mushayt is a mild-climate agricultural region which is used to be the capital of the Shahrani tribe- one of the biggest tribes who inhabit Saudi Arabia. Its name is derived from the weekly market which is held every Thursday and ‘Khamis’ is the Arabic word for Thursday. Mushayt then is the word used by the Arabs when they refer to the leading family of Shahran tribe.
The city is among the six main Saudi Air Force bases. In the Gulf War of 1990, the city served as the base for US F-117A aircraft. It was during that time when the people from the base flew from Khamis Mushayt to Baghdad or to any country then back again to the city. See how a historical city evolved into a fine city by visiting Khamis Mushait.
