Malaybalay City is a province of Bukidnon, Philippines and it serves as the capital of Bukidnon. Its name was derived from the Visayan word “walay balay” that simply means “no house.” It became Malaybalay because the Spanish colonizers were not able to pronounce the words correctly.

It is situated in the central portion of the province and it is bounded by the municipality of Cabanglasan and Pantaron Range. Malaybalay city plays a very significant role in protecting the headwater source of the Pulangi as well as the Tagoloan rovers due to its location. Among the most prominent geographical structures in the area is the Kitanglad Mountain Range which is situated in the western frontier.
