Formerly an ancient trading center founded in 16th century BC, Nakchivan City is known as the capital of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan.Nakhchivan

The city is said to be founded by Noah and its first name interpretation is “the place of first descent.” The Persians call Nakhchivan as Nagsh-e-Jahan which means image of the world. Nakhchivan City currently has about 60,000 inhabitants and its industry focuses in glass, furniture, textiles, carpets, aluminum, tobacco and grape processing.

Atabek Gumbezi is the city’s main sight. It is a restored 12th century Momine Khatun Mausoleum. There are also significant museums in Nakhchivan where visitors can go if they wanted to find out the history and archives of the city. The city has good road and rail links which is a comfort to any tourists or visitors who would come to the place. There are also buses within the vicinity which could be a big help to tourists who wanted to find significant and wonderful places in the city.
