Vietnam is not only lovers of nature but they are also fond of raising animals and they often set a date on giving important to these significant living creatures.

Do Son Buffalo Fighting Festival is often done on the 9^th and 8^th lunar month in Hai Phong, Vietnam. This is such a great event where preparations are done months before the actual festival day. The buffalos used are selected cautiously, fed well, and trained efficiently. They must be about 4 and 5 years old. This selection is started on May and six buffalos are taken to the final fight.

The festival starts with procession to the communal house with offerings such as buffalo, pig, and basket of sticky rice are presented to the gods. Twelve Vietnamese men would bring these buffalos to the fighting circle. Pair of buffalos fight until the defeated gives up and run away. Then the winner goes to the other fight until the final winner is known.

The festival aims to express the marital spirit of the local people in Do Son, Haiphong.
