Also known as Macau Special Administrative Region, Macau was established on December 20, 1999 being one of the two special administrative regions of the People’s Republic of China.

The Portuguese traders were said to be the first settlers in the country during the 16^th century. Some of the industries in the country are the textiles, electronics and toys. They also have a remarkable tourist industry with numerous hotels, resorts, stadiums, restaurants and casinos. The country provides good financial and banking services, staff training, transport as well as communications support.

The economy of Macau largely base on tourism and among its main landmarks which are sought by tourists are the A-Ma Temple, Casa Garden, Casino Lisboa, Fortaleza do Monte, Guia Fortress, Macau’s Fisherman’s Wharf, Macau Tower, Old Protestant Cemetery and the ruins of Saint Paul’s Cathedral.  The historic center of the country with some 28 historic monuments and 8 public squares is said to have been listed as a 31^st World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
