Welcome to Zamboanga, a first class highly urbanized city on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines. It is among the first chartered cities in the Philippines and is the sixth largest city in the country.

The city was known as “El Orgullo de Mindanao” which means the pride of Mindanao. It is also nicknamed as the City of Flowers and is called “Zamboanga Hermosa” by Zamboangueños for “beautiful Zamboanga.” The city is currently branded for tourism by the city government as “Asia’s Latin City.” The city is among the oldest cities in the Philippines and the most hispanicized. Zamboanga is also one of the largest cities in the world in terms of area.

The city has been the center of commerce, trade, health services and education for all of the Western Mindanao Region. It is also the seat of the Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone Authority. People in Zamboanga speak a creole language which is known as Chavacano which is a mixture of Spanish and local dialects.
