Makati is the major financial, commercial and economical hub in the Philippines. It is known as the financial capital of the country for there are a lot of global companies have their offices in the city.

It is the home of the influential Makati Business Club and the country’s stock exchange. Makati is known for its highly cosmopolitan culture, being a major cultural and entertainment hub in Manila. It also has numerous first-class shopping malls which are found at Ayala Center and Rocwell Center. During the Spanish era, the city was formerly called San Pedro Macati.
Currently, the city is among the most modern cities in the Philippines and is the country’s major global economic competitor in Southeast Asia. Makati is bounded on the north by the Pasig River, on the northeast by Pasig City, on the southeast by the municipality of Pateros and Taguig City, on the northwest by Manila and on the southwest by Pasay City.
