Known as a UNESCO World Heritage site, Halong Bay is situated in Quang Ninh province, Vietnam. The area features numerous of limestone karsts and isle in different sizes and shapes. It stretches from Yen Hu’ng district and passes through the Ha Long City, Cam Pha town to Don District. It is about 120 kilometers long coastline and has approximately 1,553 square kilometers in size with 1,969 beautiful isles.
It was in the year 1962 when the Vietnam Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism had arranged the bay as a National Renowned Landscaoe Vestige. Halong Bay is made up of isles which are topped with thick jungle vegetation that rise spectacularly from the wonderful ocean. The two bigger islands, Tuan Chau and Cat Ba have permanent inhabitants. These islands also offer tourist facilities which include hotels and beaches.
A lot of the islands in the bay have acquired their names as a result of interpretation of their rare shapes.
