The female dress of the Chinese people is called cheongsam. It has distinctive Chinese features and its name simply means long dress. It is so easy to slip on and for women, it is comfortable to wear. Cheongsam’s neck design is high and collar closed and its sleeves are short, medium and sometimes full length. It has a loose chest, fitting waits, and it also has slits from both sides.

The three types of traditional Chinese clothing are pien-fu, ch’ang-p’ao, and shen-i. These clothing are wide and have voluminous sleeves. They also have a very loose fit and they are usually ornamented with sashes. Dark colors are preferred in ceremonial clothing while the lighter ones are for casual days. Among the colors of the Chinese clothing are green which stands for spring, red for summer, white for autumn, and black stands for winter.
