Welcome to Roxas City, the capital city of Capiz, Philippines. It is known as the country’s center for copra and aquaculture production.

Its surrounding area produces sugarcane, rice, coconuts, fruit, hemp and tobacco. Roxas is originally founded as the town of Capis in the year 1693 and it was the site of Miguel Lopes de Legaspi’s settlement when he came from Cebu. The city was once known as the Municipality of Capiz and it only became a city on May 12, 1951. The city’s name was in honor of President Manuel Roxas.

The city is located at the northeastern tip of the island of PanayRoxas and it is politically subdivided into 47 barangays. There are a lot of festivities in the city and among these are the Sinadya sa Harana which is held every first week of December in commemoration of the founding of the city, the Diwal Harvest which is the city’s seafood festival and there is also the Aswang Festival but it is not an official festival of Roxas City.
